The problem it solves
An important notice goes out by email and gets lost among fifty others, is pinned on a board only people in the office see, or is posted in a chat group where nobody can find it two days later. And last week’s notice is still there, confusing people, because nobody remembers to take it down.
What it actually does

News sits at the very top of the dashboard, the first thing anybody sees when they log in. When none is current, the space disappears rather than leaving an empty box.

You choose from when and until when it shows. Without an end date, it withdraws itself thirty days after it starts.
