The problem it solves
Every January somebody copies the public holidays into a spreadsheet, each manager counts leave their own way and on the bridge day nobody knows whether the office is open. If a week off has a holiday in the middle, some take it off the balance and some do not, and each person’s balance ends up depending on who approved it.
National public holidays are loaded when the company is created, and next year’s arrive without anybody doing anything, each named in the language of whoever is looking.
Add your region’s and your town’s, and the days the company closes: a bridge day, the stock take or the collective August break. Each with its type, so they can be told apart at a glance.
A week off with a holiday in the middle costs four days, not five. The count is the same in the balance, the reports, the assistant and the app.
In the leave calendar and on mobile, holidays show struck through, and picking some dates tells you how many fall inside and which.
Whoever opens the clock-in on a holiday sees a warning. They are not stopped from clocking in: if the day is worked, the time record has to show it.
If your collective agreement moves a holiday, you delete it and the automatic load does not put it back. The calendar is your company’s, not a copy of the official gazette.

The company’s administrators maintain it. Everybody else sees it where it affects them: struck through in the leave calendar, in the clock-in warning and by asking the assistant.
