Spain’s public holidays and long weekends in 2027, region by region
Spain’s 2027 long weekends in every region: which come without using leave, which take a single day off and how to get nine days off with two days of leave.

On 13 October 2026 the BOE published Spain’s 2027 work calendar: the resolution of the Directorate-General for Labour that gathers the national public holidays and those of every region, Ceuta and Melilla. With it you can plan the whole year: which days are holidays in your region, which long weekends they leave and how many days of leave it takes to stretch them.
Here are the 2027 public holidays and long weekends of every region in tables, and each region’s calendar on its own page, with the weekday of every holiday.
In short. In 2027 there are 9 holidays common to the whole of Spain and 3 of its own in each region, plus 2 local ones per town. The year starts with a long weekend, as 1 January is a Friday; Easter falls at the end of March, and Monday 6 and Wednesday 8 December leave the best bridge of the year: five days in a row for a single day of leave. 1 May and 25 December fall on a Saturday and do not move.
The nine national public holidays of 2027
These days are public holidays across Spain, according to the resolution published in the BOE on 13 October 2026:
| Date | Day | Holiday |
|---|---|---|
| 1 January | Friday | New Year’s Day |
| 6 January | Wednesday | Epiphany |
| 26 March | Friday | Good Friday |
| 1 May | Saturday | Labour Day |
| 12 October | Tuesday | Spain’s National Day |
| 1 November | Monday | All Saints’ Day |
| 6 December | Monday | Constitution Day |
| 8 December | Wednesday | Immaculate Conception |
| 25 December | Saturday | Christmas Day |
Three dates shape the year: 1 May and 25 December fall on a Saturday, and a Saturday holiday does not move; and 15 August falls on a Sunday, so each region decides whether the day off moves to Monday 16 or is swapped for a holiday of its own.

The 2027 long weekends across Spain
- New Year: Friday 1 January leaves a three-day weekend, from Friday 1 to Sunday 3.
- Easter: from Thursday 25 to Sunday 28 March, four days, wherever Maundy Thursday is a holiday. In the Balearic Islands, Navarre, the Basque Country and La Rioja, Easter Monday is added and it becomes five. In Catalonia and the Valencian Community, which have no Maundy Thursday, it runs from Friday 26 to Monday 29.
- National Day: 12 October is a Tuesday. Taking Monday 11 off gives four days, from Saturday 9 to Tuesday 12. In Extremadura the 11th is already a holiday.
- All Saints’ Day: Monday 1 November closes a three-day weekend.
- Constitution Day and the Immaculate Conception: Monday 6 and Wednesday 8 December. Taking Tuesday 7 off gives five days in a row, from Saturday 4 to Wednesday 8. It is the best bridge of the year.
With just two days of leave, Monday 11 October and Tuesday 7 December, you get nine days off across two long weekends almost everywhere in Spain.
Each region’s long weekends
On top of the long weekends shared by the whole country come those left by each region’s own holidays: St Joseph’s Day falls on a Friday, 16 August on a Monday and, in Castile-La Mancha, Corpus Christi on a Thursday and the region’s day on a Monday, with a single working day in between. The table counts the weekends of three days or more that each region’s calendar leaves without using any leave, and the bridges you get by taking a single day off:

Local holidays
Each town also has up to two local holidays, usually its patron saint festivities. The town council proposes them and the region or province publishes them in its gazette, usually a few months after the regional calendar. They are the ones most often forgotten when closing a team’s leave.
What a company has to do with the 2027 calendar
- Publish the work calendar. Article 34.6 of the Workers’ Statute requires it to be drawn up every year and a copy displayed somewhere visible in every workplace.
- Apply each workplace’s calendar. The holidays are those of the place where the workplace is: a company with offices in two regions has two calendars and, with local holidays, one per town. For remote work, it is worth putting in writing which calendar applies.
- Share out the bridges early. If half the team asks for Tuesday 7 December, someone has to stay. Deciding early who gets it, in order of request or on a rota that changes every year, saves arguments in November.
- Do not take holidays out of annual leave. If leave is set in working days, a holiday inside the period uses no day at all.
- Pay for or make up a holiday worked. If it has to be worked, those hours are paid with a premium of at least 75% or made up with time off (article 47 of Royal Decree 2001/1983), and they are recorded like any other working day.
How Quantummycos handles it
In the Quantummycos work calendar the national holidays arrive on their own every year, and those of your region and your town are marked once and copied to the next year with one button. Everyone gets their own region’s holidays and no leave request counts them: a week of holiday with a public holiday in the middle is four days, not five. Long weekends are requested and approved in the app, seeing first who else is away on those days, and anyone who opens the clock-in screen on a public holiday sees a notice. The Work calendar is part of the Enterprise plan.
